Our women’s project.

In May 2023, we opened two properties for women, housing 4 women in total and supporting them into either college or volunteering. We also have some very exciting plans in the works to build a 2 apartment and office space complex for women built entirely from recycled materials! This will double our capacity and provide a private, dedicated space for us to have different support sessions and conversations with our women.

Since opening our first home, the women we are working with have come a very long way in a short time. 2 of our women are studying at college full time, improving their English skills so they are able to get a job. Another of our women is volunteering at other charities part-time, giving back to the community. A fourth woman has just completed a security course; passing with flying colours and is now preparing for an interview for a job in the industry. This is something she has wanted to do for a very long time, and it’s been such a privilege to see her apply herself in the way she has. It was quite an intense course, and she has done so well.

This same woman said something quite encouraging to me the other day. I came to visit her, and I heard some sobbing, I was worried before realising that it was coming from the television on low volume. This woman came out of her room, and I joked with her saying “I thought you were crying!”. She laughed and said, “Why would I be crying?” before saying that she has nothing to cry about, that life is so good right now. What an encouragement! Her life had been very rocky the months before she came to Embassy, so it was so great to hear this from her! We are so happy to have been able to provide these women with a safe, secure place where they can rebuild their lives.
